Holiday Report
Posted 9 September 2005 - Cape Town (RSA):
Here's a quick updatum from South Africa.. I'm attending a conference about telecommunications, which is very exciting. Moyennement quoi. Yesterday afternoon, we had the pleasure to drive around for a bit, thanks to a fellow attendee form the conference. We should have some time available tomorrow too, since our flight out is only at 23h45.
I did not take any of my own cameras with me, but bought two disposable ones instead. I'm curious to see what the effect will be and how (if at all) I will publish them on this website. Anyway, I'm looking forward to spending some time at home :)

Bidonville Langa
Posted 11 September 2005 - The Hague (NL):
I'm back home and very happy about it. One of the best things about travelling is learning to appreciate being home! Nevertheless, South Africa and especially the township visits were a worthwhile experience. It resulted in a small photo album named "Cape Town through a plastic lense" due to the fact that I took all the photos with a disposable camera. The one I like most is the one displayed above, showing some inhabitants of the township of Langa (EN: Sun).
What else is new? Nothing much actually. No trips planned for the coming month, I am mostly waiting for my new camera to arrive!

ZOZ to Paradiso
Posted 19 September 2005 - The Hague (NL):
My new camera has arrived and the photo above is one of the first results it produced! The photo was shot during the regional semi-finals of the Clash of the Cover bands in Rotterdam's Plan C. Presentation by Manuela Kemp and this is the winning team celebrating their victory: Zenith of Zeal from The Hague. Check for other photos on their own website.
Other than that, did some excursions this weekend and took quite some photos. Highlight of the weekend was my undercover presence at the recordings of Paul Verhoeven's new movie "Zwartboek" about the liberation of the Netherlands in 1945. Wicked scenes with pantser tanks rolling through the street and dressed-up people cheering at them, all celebrating the defeat of the German army. I took the photos with my old Olympus OM-1, so it may take a few days to process them but they will be online shortly.
There are no scheduled trip before the end of October. That's when I'll go to Rome to try and capture some beautiful black and white images. Already looking forward to that.

Zwartboek

Et voilą, I promised some interesting images from the set of "Zwartboek" by Paul Verhoeven and here they are! I wasn't there in 1945 but it must have looked quite similar to this.

La Vache!
Posted 26 September 2005 - The Hague (NL):
New trips on the agenda:
Zurich (CH) 3 and 4 October 2005 for work
Rome (IT) 21 - 28 October 2005 for a photo shoot
Dubai (UAE) 4 - 12 December 2005 for work
and I'd love to go to Paris before the end of the year. I'll also spend some time at home in the Low Lands (photo below).
Sinon, I have changed one photo for the upcoming re-exhibition of La Vida Local, but I won't tell which one. Regular visitors of this website will get an e-mail invitation for the opening of the exhibition on Wednesday 5th October. You can also send an e-mail to make sure you get a copy.

Focustalent Exposeert
Posted 28 September 2005 - The Hague (NL):
This will be the invitation to the shared exhibition, in which I will join with the selection of La Vida Local. If you want to be there on Wednesday, please print the image or check your e-mail.
I sold another large print last week: a black and white photo taken on the cemetery of Killaloe (Rep. of Ireland). It's part of the B&W Series Memento Mori.
Another trip has been added to the agenda. I'll go 'home' to Paris on 11 November, returning on the 13th.
